What to Expect During Treatment

For many patients, the first treatment session usually lasts for an hour and will start with taking a full case history. This covers a broad spectrum of your general health background, and moves on to the specifics of the presenting condition.

Firstly, your pulse will be taken from both of your wrists. Followed by an examination of your tongue to provide information about your present and underlying health conditions. Any physical injuries will be treated with a gentle palpation and massage.

Following your examination, the Acupuncture treatment will begin. During the treatment, fine stainless steel needles will be inserted at specific points on the body. These are left for between 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the condition being treated. There is little pain aside from a slight pricking and no pain once the needles have been inserted. Patients generally feel very relaxed and calm concluding a treatment.

Subsequent sessions usually last for 45 minutes.
